Yin Xiuzhen at MoMA

Through May 24, 2010: In the second floor Projects Gallery at MoMA, Yin Xiuzhen presents a large-scale sculptural piece titled “Collective Subconscious”. The installation consists of a reconstructed steel minibus draped with used clothes and found materials. For this work, Xiuzhen invites the public to enter and sit on benches inside the vehicle while listening to Chinese pop music in the background. Visitors are thereby transported into a unique environment that breaks from the conventional setting of a quiet museum space.
